Strasburg, PA – Pizza City, in Strasburg PA A small, surprisingly cozy, and welcoming pizza spot lies right on the main avenue. When your alight upon a glorious window display of local pizza spot Pizza City the mind gently slides from whatever you were thinking about to warm, crispy thoughts of pizza.
“I was greeted by the pizza-maker, who informed me the NY-style pizza was ‘not so good’ which was the most NY-style answer I could’ve hoped to receive. “

Now, I’ve been to Strasburg twice, and I haven’t visited this gem. I’ve been there twice in as many months on family outings, and both times Pizza City storefront stood out to me as unique.
I asked for a slice of pepperoni and a slice of cheese, to be sure, and asked for a cup to slake the thirst I realized I had upon sizing up the help-yourself soda fountain in the back. Foam cup in hand, I strode towards the soda machine and awaited my pizza. My excitement rose when I noticed they’ve included one of the most important NY Pizza factors – the speed at which it is served.
My Experience
The Crust
Perfectly crispy crust, with slight bubbling and char on the bubbles. Indicative of a properly hot pizza oven and well tossed dough. Exceptional for a mid-day slice!
The Sauce
Applied thinly, but quite tasty. I really liked how the amount of sauce that crept up the crust of the pizza baked into the dough.
The Cheese
Nothing out of the ordinary, but definitely came in more than normal quantity. Not too greasy.
The Atmosphere
The first thing that catches your eye as you enter is the mesmerizing glow of classic neon signs.
They hang proudly from the walls, casting a soft, colorful light that adds a touch of NY Retro charm. The neon signs hum with a gentle buzz, creating a comforting ambiance that harks back to the heyday of pizza parlors.
Opening the front door was a delight as my senses are greeted with the tantalizing aroma of fresh pizzas and hot ovens straight from the open kitchen.
You can see every prep station and oven in action given the openness of the kitchen area. Sam and his son twirl dough, generously spread sauce, and load on the toppings, all within view of the customer.
Large windows line the frontage, allowing you to indulge in the pleasure of people-watching. You can watch tourist come and go through the streets of Strasburg.
Verdict
Reminds me of Northern Jersey pizza shops.
I thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Pizza City. The delicious pizza, excellent service, and affordable prices were only part of the charm. I really felt like I was a kid again going to a local pizza shop after school or before heading out with my friends.

★★★★★“If you want a proper NY style pizza, you won’t be disappointed. Be it a chain like pizza hut or a local barely edible place like 2 cousins, this place destroys all of them in every way. Price, flavor, caring about their food ect. best I’ve found in the area. ”

★★★★★“First off, kudos to the staff for taking our order after hours! That alone was amazing. The pizza was exactly what we were hoping for: simple, true, and delicious New York-style. The crust had that perfect crisp-yet-fluffy texture, and the sauce was just right. This is the real deal. ”
